David Le Pelley

David graduated with a Masters in Yacht Design from the University of Southampton and moved to New Zealand in 2001 to become manager of the Yacht Research Unit at the University of Auckland.

Responsible for commercial operation of the wind tunnels, he has worked for several America's Cup teams, including Emirates Team New Zealand and BMW Oracle Racing.

In 2010, he co-founded VSPARS with Owen Modral. VSPARS supplies sail shape measurement systems to racing yacht teams across the globe.

He joined Doyle Sails in 2016 as R&D manager, undertaking projects such as the re-design of the large gantry plotters which manufacture sail panels.

In 2018, he founded Le Pelley Consulting so he could follow his passion of developing novel, cost effective solutions for a wide range of engineering problems.

David can usually be found outdoors.
